PALS Special Educator: Woodstock Elementary School
Woodstock Elementary School is nestled amongst the Green Mountains in the quintessential and beautiful downtown area of Woodstock, VT. The school team is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Special Educator to lead our Program for Alternative Learning Styles. This full-time role offers a unique opportunity to support students with low incidence disabilities and who have diverse needs, while leading a program that fosters independence, school engagement, a sense of belonging, and academic success.
About the Role
The Special Educator will:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with academic, social emotional, and functional learning needs.
- Lead and collaborate with a team of talented and dedicated paraeducators to ensure high-quality instruction and individualized support.
- Develop and implement interventions that address students' cognitive, communication, social-emotional, behavioral, mobility, personal care, and self-regulation needs.
- Collaborate with team members to deliver benchmark assessments and oversee students' participation in district and statewide testing as determined by their IEP team.
- Support students in both general education and specialized settings, integrating them into the least restrictive environment.
- Oversee case management, including IEP development, meeting planning, and facilitation and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with related service providers (SLP, OT, PT, school counselors), general education teams, and external partners such as UVM CDC Cares, HCRS, and the I-Team to provide comprehensive wrap-around student support to students and families.
- Evaluate and enhance programming by working closely with students, school staff, and community partners to identify individual strengths, skills, and interests .
- Provide opportunities for planned and regular engagement with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders through a variety of formats and platforms.

- Hold or be eligible to hold a Vermont Educator License with an appropriate Special Education endorsement.
